Mr. Shivdarshan Lal Kapur, born on August 15, 1944 graduated in 1967 in Electrical Engineering from Delhi College 01 Engineering, (DCE), Delhi.

Presently Since September 2004, he is Advisor (Technical) Reliance Energy Limited, Naida. He held the position of Director (Technical), on the Board of Directors of NTPC Limited since June 2002 and super annulated on August 31, 2004. He was also the Chairman of NTPC Alstom Power Services Limited, (NASL) New Delhi from June 2002 to August 2004. He had been the Part Time Director For NTPC SAIL Power Supply Company Limited, Bhilai Electric Supply Company Limited, Pipavav Power Development Company Limited, NTPC Electric Supply Company Limited and NTPC Tamil Nadu Energy Company Limited.

He has 37 years professional experience exclusively in Power Sector in various responsible positions in India.

He began his career as Assistant Engineer with Hydel Directorate, Government 01 Bhutan, (1968-1970). Then he joined West Bengal State Electricity Board, Calcutta (1970-1973) and was involved in erection, testing and commissioning of power plant equipment. Thereafter, he served MECON, Ranchi and was associated with design and detailed engineering 01 captive power plant 01 various steel plants.

He joined NTPC in Apnl, 1980. He has 15 years experience in Engineering in varius capacities from Senior Design Engineer to Additional General Manager and has been responsible for the design and detailed engineering (From concept to commissioning I operations) of numerous coal based super power thermal projects and gas based power projects spread all over the country.

Later, he headed Corporate Planning 01 the organization for 7 years as General Manager (Corporate Planning) and Executive Director (Corporate Planning). He has been responsible for formulation of NTPC's 15 years Corporate Plan. He has interacted with international/domestic funding institutions viz. World Bank, ADB, KFW. OECF.

He has authored over 15 papers on various Technical, Environmental and Management subjects, and presented them in various international/national forums including Manchester Business School, 18th International World Energy Congress in Argentina, 2nd International Conference on Power Development in Afro• Asian countries at Kuala Lumpur and 10th CEPSl international Symposium at Christ Church, New Zealand.

He has visited abroad and has been a member 01 various Government delegations across the globe to countries like USA. UK, Poland, Japan, Italy, France, Tanzania, Nepal, Algiers, Argentina, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, China and Bhutan etc.

Mr. S. L. Kapur had been nominated as a member on the Board of Central Power Research institute, by NTPC. He had been a member of Cleaner Fossil Fuel Committee of World Energy Council.
